Vivek Oberoi signed up as brand ambassador for Zeel Rainwear

Amitabh & Aamir to launch Dilip Kumar’s biography ‘Substance and Shadow’


Come June 9th and the long wait for the biography of Bollywood thespian Dilip Kumar will be over! The biography ‘Substance and Shadow', which was earlier scheduled to be released on his 91st birthday, is all set to be revealed now in Mumbai, India.


The biography is written by author Uday Tara Nayar, who is also a close family friend of the Bollywood thespian.

Asha Bhosle’s magic in Marathi film Miss Match!

It was a rare site for those who were present at the live recording session of legendary singer Asha Bhosle’s latest song for an upcoming Marathi film ‘Miss Match’.

One of India’s most iconic singer took to the mic for playback after a long time. As she crooned a melodious track for filmmaker Alok Shrivastava’s Marathi film ‘Miss Match’ at a recording studio in Mumbai.

“I always like to do something different in every song. The trademark Asha Bhosle style has to reflect somewhere and I am very happy with the way this song has turned out,” said the elated 80-year-old diva, who has given us numerous hits and won countless awards over the last seven decades.

Flanked by film’s leading lady Mrinmai Kolwalkar and producer and creative director Alok Shrivastava, Asha Bhosle looked resplendent in a light blue saree.

Global designer Salim Asgarally brings fashion education to underprivileged

A name synonymous with high craftsmanship & articulation in his creations, with embellishments made from highly creative blend of east and the west, his world famous collections gracefully adorn the homes of Hollywood celebs like Brad Pitt & Madonna. Top models like Bipasha Basu & Aishwarya Rai have flaunted his creations in fashion shows.

Designer Salim Asgarally now makes fashion become a platform for change when he had top women directors walk the ramp for Smile Foundation's charity fashion show to signify their solidarity towards the girl child cause. Asgarally held  a Fashion Workshop for underprivileged youngsters in association with the Smile Foundation. The youth are in the age group of 18 to 25 who are part of Smile Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP) conducted by Smile Foundation across its centres in Mumbai.

STeP is the livelihood programme for the underprivileged youth, wherein the youth are given training on key employability skills like English proficiency, computer operations, personality development, etc. with the objective of helping them get a job in the growing retail and service sector. Smile Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP) is a national level livelihood programme of Smile Foundation that trains urban underprivileged youth with market-oriented job skills such as English, basic computer, personality development, retail management, relevant soft skills etc and makes them employed in retail and service sectors across India. More than 13,750 youth have been trained and 9850 have been placed in over 140 brands through 35 operational projects across India.

Through this Fashion Workshop, the first of its kind held by a fashion designer, Asgarally seeks to inspire these young minds towards a career in fashion as designers, costume designers, stylists, merchandisers, pattern makers, retail professionals, fashion buyers or other myriad options available in the trade at both a creative or management level.

The children inspired and wishing to be a part of the fashion business will then through the able offices of Asgarally be given scholarships for a year to study fashion at an institute of repute and will be assisted in making a career in the industry.

Asgarally was accompanied by the celebrated and award-winning filmmaker and director Kalpana Lajmi, who will give a talk on the importance, potential and need of qualified and trained Costume Designers in the film industry. Kalpana Lajmi to her credit has made several socially relevant films such as Rudaali, Darmiyaan, Daman and Chingaari. ”A beautiful endeavour by Smile Foundation and Salim Asgarally to introduce and absorb underprivileged children to the world of fashion. I am very glad I was a part of it,” said Kalpana Lajmi.

This endeavour succeeds a successful showing of Asgarally's collection titled RED for the Smile Foundation at a star studded fashion show in Mumbai last month in aid of providing education to a 1000 underprivileged children. This effort is now part of a continuing exercise with the Smile Foundation and Asgarally towards positive social change in the area of education for underprivileged children.

The current workshop will outline the role and function of the fashion business and explain the opportunities available for gainful employment and career growth in the world of fashion and costume.  Asgarally has managed to get scholarships for fashion design diploma for deserving students based on merit to cover their tuition and hostel facilities from Anupam Goyal, CEO of the Institute of Design Technology, Surat, and hopes to get more such organised in the near future with other schools of fashion in India and abroad to be able to facilitate the funding of education for these youth.  Says he, “it gives me great pleasure and a deep satisfaction to make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate children and their families through my talent, skills and work experience as a fashion designer.”


Asgarally believes that if every business dedicates a small percentage of its profits or resources towards upliftment and education of underprivileged children, this world will be devoid of stress, strife and poverty. And this move is merely one step in the right direction.

The pull of the show would be a collection derived from the concept of bags, another collection deals with the currently vanishing crafts of India and a collection dealing with the futuristic post apocalyptic clothing. Some other prominient collection include a desk to dinner convertible clothing range, a collection inspired from British military clothing and a collection inspired by the dance costumes of 2 states. The Fashion and Lifestyle Design Department would also exhibit the collection of products and accessories designed by them during their graduation project in the industry, in different fields of interests like Home Decor, Product Designing, leather bags, Jewellery,Furnitures etc. The graduating students would showcase their design exploration and commitment towards work and design liability during their project in the industry.

The graduating show would be inaugurated by  Mr. Jattinn Kochhar and also graced by various other prominent personalities from the world  of fashion and industry. The show would end with the distribution of various awards to the deserving students.

Blitzkrieg: A mega fashion show enthralled fashionistas of Jalandhar

The heat was turned up in the city of Jalandhar with a magnificent mega fashion show “Blitzkrieg” a fusion of style, fashion and life organized by CT Institute of Fashion Designing recently at the Radisson hotel, Jalandhar.

The fashion extravaganza witnessed a spectacular fashion show, which displayed over 100 ensembles on the ramp, which were designed by ace fashion designers Farah Sanjana and Punit Arora. To add to the glitter and glamour to the show, ravishing models from Blenders Fashion Week walked the ramp to showcase the collections and set the ramp on fire. The collection was a blend of both summer and occasions wears.

The entire shows was conceived in nine rounds and each round displayed marvelous collection and were highly appreciated by the huge number of fashionistas present during the shows. However, the point of attraction for the event was the last round, where the students of the CT Institute of Fashion Designing presented their magnificent collections.

The dignitaries of CT Group of Institutions also honoured the Fashion designers Farah Sanjana and Punit Arora for their contribution to the show for making it successful.

The event was organized by CT Institute of Fashion Designing in association with Indo Mods, while the event was managed by League One Media.

Mumbai comes alive with the myriad hues of Assam

Sankaradeva Movement started out as an ambitious attempt to promote the ideals of the 15th century saint Sankaradeva and to propagate the culture of Assam across India. The Third edition of the movement, which is promoted by Trend MMS, the reputed Socio Cultural Trust of Assam, was held in Mumbai today in collaboration with NCPA, well known for promoting Art and Culture in the country.

​​The event, which promised to be bigger and better than ever before, turned out to be an unqualified success thanks to the love and support it received from all quarters. Entrepreneur and Cultural Activist, Mr. Shyamkanu Mahanta, the organizer of Sankaradeva Movement said, “Mahapurush Sankaradeva, the greatest Assamese of all time was a versatile personality - a saint, poet, dramatist, actor, sculptor, painter and most importantly a social engineer who united the heterogeneous society of Assam.  However, we felt that the multifaceted genius hasn’t got his recognition outside Assam, hence the need for a movement such as this. We have been really overwhelmed by the kind of response we have received in Mumbai – it really has been unprecedented and much more than the previous editions.”

The morning saw a discussion on the relevance of Sankaradeva in Modern India in which eminent luminaries like Governor of Assam Mr. JB Patnaik, Brand Ambassador of Sankaradeva Movement –Actor Victor Banerjee, Actor Adil Hussain, reputed Vaishnavi scholar Dr. Sunil Kothari, Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta,  eminent writer and Addl DGP, Assam & Swapna​nil Baruah, Commissioner, Cultural Affairs Deptt, Govt of Assam participate with great gusto. All the speakers stressed upon the greatness of Sankaradeva’s teachings and the need for the modern society to imbibe the ideals of the great scholar saint.

​Eminent actor and brand ambassador ​of Sankaradeva Movement, Victor Banerjee said, "The Sankaradeva Movement is a novel initiative to propagate the ideals of the great scholar saint. Having been associated with the initiative for the past 3 years, I can see the movement taking a definite shape. His teachings which spoke about secularism and inclusion in the true sense, have a lot of relevance in today's times."

Hon'ble Governor of Assam Shri JB Patnaik said, "Srimanta Sankaradeva appeared as a unifying force for the people of Assam - he was a great spiritual leader, a social reformer, an architect of Assamese language and literature, composer, dramatist, musician, dancer, painter and above all a great humanist. We cannot think of Assam without Srimanta Sankaradeva and I am glad Sankaradeva Movement is doing yeomen's service in promoting his teachings in different parts of India and particularly in Maharashtra, the home of many saints and spiritual leaders of India."

In the evening, a grand cultural programme was organised to showcase the colorful culture of Assam. The star-studded function was an evening to remember with some spellbinding performances in the presence of celebrated personalities from the film industry like Hariharan, Pritam,Lalit Pandit among others. The reputed Marathi singer Ashwini Bhide Deshpande and Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota enthralled the audience with Borgeet in the funct​ion. ​


Dance Drama Chordhora Jhumura was performed by top Assamese actresses like Barasharani Bishaya, Tanvi Sarma & Mallika Kandali under direction of Dr. Nirupoma Mahanta.  Famous Naga Folk singer Guru Rewben Mashangva rocked the crowd with his mesmerizing Naga folk blues in a unique fusion performance along with Kalpana Patowary.  Sunita Khaund Bhuyan filled the evening with her lilting violin strains as she performed Bihu. The function was sumptuously rounded off by Assam’s heartthrob Zubin Garg.  Few outstanding Assamese cultural personalities in Mumbai like Amrit Pritam, Dhrubajyoti Phukon, Debojit Changmai, Jatin Sarma were also felicitated during the event.

Designer Pawan Sachdeva rocks at the Festival of Hope

The versatile and talented Designer Pawan Sachdeva was the major highlight of fashion show at the Festival of Hope as he opened the show with his flambuoyant & sophisticated Mens wear collection inspired by the Mughal Era, called, Andaaz-e-Nawab and he was also the finale designer showcasing his collection of evening cocktail wear for women, called Fairy Tale.

Andaaz-e-Nawab is all about dressing today’s men in the royal attire.  The collection has impressions of Mughal & Arabic clothing and has been twisted so creatively to fit in the taste of a modern man says Designer Pawan Sachdeva. From a very traditional attire like a Jama paired with a flared skirt to a modern avtar of a floral motif transparent cotton kurta teamed with pencil trousers and a cotton olive floral printed  Nehru jacket, Pawan’s profound design sensibilities are evident in each creation.


And Like a Fairy Tale which is  blessed with unusual happiness, his collection of Evening Cocktail wear is sure a perfect mood lifter.  Flowy colourful gowns, stretching imaginations in terms of numerous stylish drapes and silhouettes, a playful use of floral motifs, dazzling with the brightness of  Swarovski Fairy Tale is indeed a very joyous collection.

Pawan has been associated with the Festival of Hope since its inception and through his collections he portrayed the calmness and graciousness with which  people suffering from cancer has overcome the deadly disease and the sheer joy which they are experiencing now and are living life King size

A Star-studded evening to unveil 2nd edition of coffee table book

A perfect hi powered evening was hosted by Rashi Anand, founder LAKSHYAM NGO.The eve was to  celebrate the unveiling of second edition of coffee table book "Delhi Primes: Men serving Mankind". DELHI PRIMES is a compilation of 35 powerful men from Delhi , giving back to society & coming forward to support the cause of Lakshyam.The event took place at Hyatt Regency, Delhi. Some of the guests present at the event were Actor Unnat Dutt, Entrepreneur Bharat Sahni, Dr. Lalit Bhasin,  MS Bitta, Chairman of All India Anti terrorist front ,NGO Activist Anshu Gupta, Entrepreneur Pawan Jain,Photographer Raghu Rai, Entrepreneur Tushar Kumar, Life & Business Coach Ramon Llamba to name a few.

The occasion was a charity fashion show to raise funds to support LAKSHYAM’Sendeavour to uplift the standard of not so privileged kids in Delhi. The coffee table book comprises of some prominent celebrities like Sandeep Jajodia, Jatin Das, Bharat Sahani, Kapil Dev, Dr Naresh Trehan, Shivendra Singh, Rohit Bal, Varun Jain, Keshav Suri, Lalit Bhasin, Vikram Baidyanath , Shiv Jatia, Pt.
